The mountains help maintain Lakeside’s agreeable climate, considered one of the best in the world.

With an average daily temperature of 76° F, the climate is most noted for its lack of extremes. Almost every day is sunny in this semitropical area. Even in the rainy season (June through September), the refreshing rains generally come during late night or predawn hours, providing needed moisture for the verdant hills and brilliant flowers, with the sunshine returning in the daytime. Wintertime brings crisper days, when a light sweater is sometimes needed, and cooler nights when fireplaces may be enjoyed. Heating and air conditioning are seldom used. In fact, many people leave their windows open all year around, and spend the majority of their time on garden terraces and patios.
